A thriving community where residents are building a solid foundation and pursuing wellness for themselves and their family.
VRSI was founded in November 2016 by Monique Robinson (Founder/Executive Director) and her husband Tyon Robinson (Co-founder/Asst. Director) who are both life-long residents of Baton Rouge. The couple met weeks before Hurricane Katrina and while neither was devastating impacted, the founder volunteered in the community prepping and organizing goods for residents who evacuated from New Orleans. After the Great Flood of 2016, they were immediately moved to go out and volunteer before realizing that their own family home and a vehicle had also flooded. The desire to help had to be temporarily contained as the family and their two children rebuilt, but it did not fizzle out. Not long after, the couple began sowing into the lives of families in need and eventually VRSI was birthed. At VRSI, we have passion for serving others and providing them vital information and resources for stabilization. We are elated about the opportunity to help our community reach its recovery goals.
With the help of volunteers and donors, our small organization has begun a life-long journey of positively impacting the lives of others. From collecting and delivering goods, to providing gift cards, to sponsoring meals, VRSI looks for ways to fill the needs of the community.
In addition to facilitating goods and resources, VRSI also specializes in community outreach and client intake. Our specialist reside in the community, therefore, we make a concerted effort to establish a client specialist relationship so that we can properly assess the needs of the community. Our specialists have well over 12 years of experience in assessing client eligibility for grant funding and verifying eligibility. We welcome the opportunity to identify clients still in need of recovery funding, facilitate the application process, and distribute the award.
At VRSI, we stand behind our motto of “Reaching Out to Make a Difference” and we firmly believe that through our delivery our service we will truly make an impact in our community.
