FEMA is extending their rental assistance program to families still displaced by the disaster.  The extended assistance period may last from 3-months to a maximum of 18 months. Applications for continued temporary housing assistance (CTHA) may be obtained directly from FEMA.  Applicants will also need to provide the following:

  • Completed CTHA application
  • Copy of your lease
  • Receipts showing proper use of federal disaster housing assistance
  • Current Household income status
  • Records of any household financial obligations

Survivors who want to continue temporary housing assistance and have not received a CTHA application should request one by calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585.

"Reaching out to make a difference"

A preliminary survey is required to begin the application process for the Restore Louisiana program.  The survey will be available on Monday, April 10th on the Restore Louisiana website. This is the first step to applying for assistance.  This program is available to assist homeowners that did not have flood insurance when the March and August 2016 floods occurred. The program is also open to renters as well.  The survey does not guarantee that you will qualify for additional federal assistance; however, it is the tool to begin qualification for the program. See the flyer below for more information.

VITAL is committed to creating solutions to problems within the community. However, we NEED your HELP.  By taking our survey, YOU help us assess the ongoing unmet needs as a result of the August 2016 flood.

We then create and execute problem-specific strategies to meet these needs.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to take our short needs assessment survey.
